Don't know what the problem was with the other reviewers, my daughter is 4 and LOVES this toy. Yes, you have to put the bone or the leash in the dog's mouth to turn it on. Yes, Barbie has to be positioned correctly on a smooth floor to be pulled. But my daughter has had NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER setting any of that up. And any toy that involves motion is not going to work well on a shag carpet, you always need a smooth surface. As far as the tree falling apart, the top does come off easy but is no big deal to put back on and gravity keeps it in place more than adequately if you have the toy sitting on a table or floor. It is really cute how the dog pulls the tree top around to give the little dogs a ride. Compared to some of the other absolute junk I've seen in my kids' other toys, this one seems well put together and fun.

My daughter REALLY wanted this so with her birthday money picked it out. Within the first hour of having it at home the legs broke off and we realized barbie cannot skate she just kept falling down even on hardwood floors. We took it back the next day. I guess they are making barbies legs with a rubber type band to hold them together on the inside. Sadly Barbie is NOT as durable as it used to be.

Barbie must be used on a VERY SMOOTH floor or she falls over! Her skate wheels do not turn - she is just pulled along by the dog and if you do not have very new smooth floors, this Barbie will not work. Very disappointing!



To make the dog pull Barbie, you must sit a puppie on the mother dog's back. (This is not shown in the picture.) There is a tiny magnet on the puppy which activates the dogs's legs. The dog is VERY noisy as it moves. It also tends to move and pull Barbie in circles so you have to keep straightening it out.



To keep Barbie from falling on a smooth floor, she has to be balanced just right or she falls even though the floor is smooth.



Barbie will not work on cement or anything rough, and she can't move on tiled floors because the tiny skate wheels get stuck and she falls over.



All and all, this is a POOR toy. Mattel should make an Emergency Room Barie Playset to go with this one, because most of the time Barbie is falling on her head!!!

We bought the toy new on Thursday. I discovered Barbie on Saturday evening with her legs off. The fabric band that holds Barbie's limbs on had snapped. It seems improbable to me that my 7 yr old really abused the toy in that short amount of time. Mattell was helpful by phone when I called in about the clumsy wings on Barbie Fairy-Tastic Princess. Hopefully, they'll have a convenient solution for this.

I saw this "Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds" Barbie doll and I knew I had to have it! I love Alfred Hitchcock and this Barbie was certainly a great idea for a great homage! The recreation of Tippi Hedren is great... the falling hair after the bird attack... the suit... the black birds... everything is so evocative, this is indeed the perfect toy homage.



Naturally, this is a collector's item, therefore, it is not supposed to played with. Children will probably ask "what happened to her? Why the birds?" But the answer is simple: THE BIRDS is simply one of the greatest films ever! I could not think of a greater honor: to be released as a Barbie doll.



I'm not a doll collector... by this one captured my imagination and I am already going to have to control myself when Mattel releases more Hitchcock dolls. And I already have my favorite ones on my mind:

REAR WINDOW - This Barbie recreates Lisa Freemont when she she first appears.

VERTIGO - This Barbie recreates Madeleine Elster with the hairdo and the gray suit she wore when she died... and the necklace, naturally...

PSYCHO - This Barbie comes in tones of gray (since the film is in black & white). This is a naked Barbie that comes in a shower... screaming! LOL

This is one of my favorite of the Barbie Collector dolls. I was so surprised when they released this as a subject for a Barbie doll - it's definitely not for kids and kind of scary. But the box is beautifully designed and you really get a feel for the movie from it. I haven't taken it out of the box but I am very happy I purchased this and it is displayed right next to my computer.

My mother is a minor league Barbie collector and a Hitchcock fan from way back...so when I gave her this doll as a birthday gift she was all smiles...she couldn't stop looking at it. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is so much detail..the purse, the jewelry, that perfectly captured startled look on Tipi's face.



I went ahead and bought the movie DVD to add to the gift...the outfit pictured on the DVD cover is the same one the doll is wearing...it makes a great presentation.

This is a very unique and well done collectable. I am NOT a doll collecter, but might start if Mattel continues this series!



Th presentation is VERY HIGH END, and the doll is posed well in the case - which is a true work of art itself. The front looks like a movie set, right at UNIVERSAL. It is clear that great care was taken, a true 3-D presentation. The costume is a perfect replica of what Tippi Hedren wore (designed by legend Edith Head) when she played Melanie Daniels.



The 3 birds are individual, and differ from each other- again the attention to detail is noticed. The doll even has a whisp of hair out of place, and a scratch on the forehead where one of the birds pecked at poor Melanie.



The back of the box has information on the movie, Hitchcock and its production in 1963. The movie is a true classic,and this is a creative way to remember it, in between viewings.



I have mine above my desk at work,and I can assure you most everyone (male and female) are attracted to it- and astounded by the quality of the presentation. Tends to be an ice breaker as well, people love to talk about their own memory of this film!



So ...if you are in gift giving mode for a film buff, you can't go wrong-and yes, you can buy a doll for a guy! (or yourself!) This is really a piece of pop-culture art, and highly prized.

Bought this for my 22 month old for Christmas. Really likes it - easy for her to drive with the push button. She figured that out right away. She is still learning to steer - which is good for her coordination. Her 4 year old sister likes to play with it also, even though she is too big for it! This toy is easy to assemble. It's size and speed are perfect for a 2-4 year old. It does not work exceptionally well on tile floor, because of the hard material the wheels are made from, however it does go well on carpeted floors and outside. It is strictly forward motion no reverse, which doesn't seem to hinder our 3 year old. I do not believe it would stand up under the size, weight or use of a child over 5. When they say "toddler series", that is exactly what it is for a toddler.

I bought this for my daughter's second birthday. It's really an lovely toy, and she easily understood to push the button in order to make it go. However, she seems a little scared to ride it. I think she will eventually enjoy it, as this is the first motor toy she's ever had. The battery actually had enough power to run right out of the box, which was nice. Very nice toy, well built. I gave it a 4 on durability as we have not owned it very long yet.

I gave it 2 stars because:



- The manufacture and item description did not tell me that I need to charge the battery AT LEAST 14 hours after each use. Every time you use, you need to recharge battery AT LEAST 14 hours. Using the car for 5 mins or 50 mins you still need to recharge AT LEAST 14 hours to maintain the battery life. My daughter is still learning to ride and she is using it for less than 5 mins and I have to recharge AT LEAST 14 hours. This lead acid battery need to be recharged every time. It doesn't work like battery of cell phone where you only recharge the battery when it is LOW.

I bought this doll for my little cousin and I was there when she opened it. She asked me to get her out of the box, and like any other Barbie, it's a task to get them out!

The Sassy doll is cute. She had strips of pink highlights on her brown hair and her outfilt is cute. I noticed that her earrings are smaller than what the picture shows. Still cute tho.

I did notice, and was kind of worried about her hands. They were really loose. My cousin tends to break the little parts off her toys that are that loose, but so far, it's holding up.

Over all, she loves it, and I'm glad I found it for her.

The Barbie Fashionistas dolls are all really neat because of their amazing posability. In addition to a fun & cute outfit, Barbie Fashionistas Sassy has excellent hair, right out of the box. She is my personal favorite of the Barbie Fashionistas dolls due to her out-of-of-the-box playability and her ability to look pretty through it all (no rat's nest hair trouble to mess with).



They are available for $10-13 at some big toy retailers, but can be very hard to find, including online.

My daughter really wanted this doll. The snap on hair extentions seem like a great idea but the execution is poorly done. The plastic snap pieces are fixed to the hair with folded over hair and a rubber band. After one day of light play one had already been pulled off by my 7 year old. Not to mention the hair tangling all up! Braiding all the pieces would have helped. I wish the makers of Barbie would spend less time making the doll look beautiful in the box and more time thinking about how the little girls are going to play with them.

After opening my Cutie doll package, (which was fairly easy) I instantly noticed something. Her legs- they're much, much sturdier and thicker than regular dolls. Even my other Fashionista doll has far more slender, and, unfortuneately, emaciated legs. For this I give Cutie a big thumbs-up. Skinny, unrealistic, yes, they are still, but a big improvement. The feet are shaped differently and remind me of older versions of Barbie dolls, the 1980-1995 models. Unfortunately, she is not quite as flexible as my Girly doll, but she is sturdier. Her skirt is much more cute in real life than in the promo pictures, but it's the other way around with her top. The earrings were a slight disappointment, as they are cheap and won't come out. The purse is sweet and will actually hold a couple of small doll accessories. Her hair looked awful when I first took it out of the box, but after running a Barbie brush through the ponytail, it looked better. Still looks like it needs a washing, though.

Overall she's a pretty doll, cute clothes and lots of fun, but you can buy her at Wal*Mart for $8 so don't spend $20 on her. Even with her downfalls I give her 5 stars because she's sturdy, cute, and lots of fun.

I'd say you expect to much for $18.99. After all 1939 when you may have bought a detailed version for less went by several years ago. For the price Mattel has done an excellent job. The likeness and quality of this item for the price is commendable. If you want better you will find you probably have to spend anywhere from $60 to $100 plus. Do your homework before complaining. I understand when people complain if they spend over $50 and get junk. I don't when they spend less than $20 and still get good quality. Kids that enjoy the The Wizard of Oz ~ Judy Garland 1939 Classic (Import - English - All Regions) should love this.
